Mediwhale is a pioneering AI healthcare startup focusing on predicting cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disease (CVRM) risks using retinal biomarkers. The eye is the only organ where blood vessels are directly visible without invasive procedures, which is our key to unlocking unprecedented insights into human health.
Mediwhale provides retinal AI solutions that diagnose future disease risks early. We obtained medical device approval in South Korea in August 2022, and non-reimbursable prescriptions have been available at medical institutions since June 2023.
Our goal is to bridge the gap between physicians and patients, accelerating the transition toward personalized and sustainable healthcare. To realize this vision, we are looking for a Project Manager to join our journey. This position will report directly to the CSO/COO.

As a Project Manager at Mediwhale, you will manage government-funded projects tied to the development and real-world validation of our retinal AI solutions, as well as to our regulatory and clinical strategies in Korea and abroad. Working closely with clinicians, government agencies, and partner organizations, you will play a key role in maximizing project outcomes and driving the company’s vision and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Government-funded (national) R&D project management: Manage the full project lifecycle — objectives, budget, schedule, resource planning, and settlement — and take ownership of resolving issues that arise during execution
• Stakeholder communication: Lead collaboration and performance management with hospitals, government agencies, academic societies, and corporate partners
• Identifying and winning new projects: Monitor government policies and open calls, plan new projects and write proposals, and build winning strategies in collaboration with internal and external experts
• Alignment with the R&D roadmap: Connect national project objectives with SaMD regulatory approval and global clinical trial strategies
• Market and technology analysis: Monitor the latest research and regulatory developments in medical AI and in the prediction of ophthalmic and cardiovascular diseases

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience planning, operating, and managing government R&D projects (e.g., Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy)
• Hands-on experience with government project administration (drafting R&D project plans and reports, budget settlement, etc.)
• Solid understanding of the medical/healthcare domain
• Communication skills to collaborate smoothly with multi-center clinical sites, academic societies, and industry partners

Preferred:

• Experience managing a single project of KRW 1 billion or more, or multiple government-funded projects simultaneously
• Experience planning and winning new government-funded projects (from proposal writing through final selection)
• Clinical research experience in ophthalmology, cardiovascular, or renal disease, or experience working with CDM/CDW
• Basic understanding of AI-based medical technologies, particularly SaMD
• Experience with SaMD/medical device regulatory approval and clinical trials
• Experience in global partnerships or international joint research
• Ability to write and present papers and reports in English
