At Mediwhale, the Project Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in national R&D initiatives, overseeing the development and validation of our retinal AI solutions while aligning business objectives with domestic and international regulatory and clinical strategies. This position is central to driving outcomes through collaboration with clinicians, government agencies, and industry partners, directly contributing to our vision and global growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Government (National) R&D Project Leadership: End-to-end management of goals, budget, timeline, staffing, and settlement
  • Stakeholder Communication: Build and manage collaboration with hospitals, government bodies, academic societies, and industry partners
  • Product & Clinical Integration: Plan the clinical utility and user experience (UX) of retinal AI solutions
  • Regulatory & Clinical Trial Alignment: Manage SaMD approval and global clinical trial strategies in connection with national R&D project goals
  • Market & Technology Analysis: Monitor latest research, medical AI trends, and regulatory environment in ophthalmology and cardiovascular disease prediction
  • Operations & Issue Resolution: Lead problem-solving throughout project execution and commercialization
  • New Project Development & Acquisition: Track government policies and announcements, design new proposals, and establish winning strategies through collaboration with internal and external experts

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in planning, operating, and managing government R&D projects (MOHW, MSIT, MOTIE, etc.)
  • Understanding of medical domains (cardiovascular, renal, ophthalmology, etc.) with hands-on planning experience
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multi-center clinical teams, academic societies, and industry partners
  • Proven experience in drafting research/clinical development plans, business proposals, and reports

Preferred:

  • Experience managing single projects of 1B KRW+ scale or multiple concurrent government-funded projects
  • Clinical research experience in ophthalmology, cardiovascular, or renal disease, or experience with CDM/CDW
  • Hands-on experience with SaMD/medical device approval and clinical trials
  • Basic understanding of AI-based medical technologies, particularly SaMD
  • Experience in global partnerships or international collaborative research
  • Ability to write and present academic papers and reports in English
  • Proven track record in planning and securing new government R&D projects (from proposal writing to award selection)
